Special Projects at Marywood

We encourage creative ways of giving, including special projects. Whether you want to provide direct aid to students in need; boost funding for service trips; assist our student-athletes; support innovative student projects; remember the legacy of a special professor, IHM Sister, or loved one; or even devise a special project of your own, there are many opportunities to support scholastic, student life, service, cultural, and commemorative initiatives that are significant and meaningful to you, while also moving Marywood forward.

This fund provides critical resources and helps students meet unexpected expenses to ensure their ability to continue moving forward with their education. With your gift, those students who need immediate assistance can be helped.

Paulette Posluszny Merchel ’69, Ph.D. Theatre Arts Scholarship

Merchel.jpg

Few college professors can boast that they stood before just about every student that attended the college/university where they taught, regardless of major.  Marywood was privileged for over 20 years to have Dr. Paulette Merchel teach the required Fine Arts course allowing her to do just that.  As a liberal arts university, Marywood has always believed in the value of the arts in the communal world and that belief was nurtured passionately by Dr. Merchel.  In addition, she reached across all majors through the undergraduate and graduate public speaking courses.  As Director of Theatre for most of her tenure at Marywood, she was the consummate educator guiding students to a dedicated work ethic, teaching them the value of team work, and infusing a love of theatre.  She did this with boundless energy, a brilliant mind, a sense of humor, and genuine affection.
